Heat Shock Protein Genes in Fish
نویسندگان
چکیده
Heat shock proteins are a family of highly conserved cellular proteins present in all organisms including fish. Fish represent an ideal model organism to understand the regulation and functional significance of heat shock proteins (Hsps). The mechanism regulating the expression of Hsp genes in fish have not been studied in detail. In this review, the function, genomic structure and environmental adaptation of the major fish Hsps were discussed. Future research evaluating the functional genomics of Hsps in fish will provide substantial insight into the physiological and ecological roles of these highly

Effects of hepatitis C virus NS3 protein on expression of heat shock protein 70 and Glypican3 as the markers of hepatocellular carcinoma
Background and Aims: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is an important risk factor for the development of liver cancer. The HCV NS3 protein plays a key role in the virus life cycle and can affect normal cellular activities, such as cell proliferation, cell death, and cell signaling pathways. Moreover, it may influence malignancy development. Two cellular genes, heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) and...
متن کاملIntraspecific variation in thermal tolerance and heat shock protein gene expression in common killifish, Fundulus heteroclitus.
Populations of common killifish, Fundulus heteroclitus, are distributed along the Atlantic coast of North America through a steep latitudinal thermal gradient. We examined intraspecific variation in whole-animal thermal tolerance and its relationship to the heat shock response in killifish from the northern and southern extremes of the species range. Critical thermal maxima were significantly h...
متن کاملDifferential gene expression associated with euryhalinity in sea bream (Sparus sarba).
Certain fish have the remarkable capability of euryhalinity, being able to withstand large variations in salinity for indefinite periods. Using the highly euryhaline species, silver sea bream (Sparus sarba), as an experimental model, some of the molecular processes involved during ion regulation (Na+-K+-ATPase), cytoprotection [heat shock protein (hsp) 70], and growth (somatotropic axis) were s...

Despite decades of intensive investigation, important questions remain regarding the functional, ecological, and evolutionary roles of heat shock proteins. In this paper, we discuss the utility of fish as a model system to address these questions, and review the relevant studies of heat shock protein genes and the regulation of their expression in fish. Although molecular studies of the heat sh...
متن کاملEffects of thermal acclimation on transcriptional responses to acute heat stress in the eurythermal fish Gillichthys mirabilis (Cooper).
The capacities of eurythermal ectotherms to withstand wide ranges of temperature are based, in part, on abilities to modulate gene expression as body temperature changes, notably genes encoding proteins of the cellular stress response. Here, using a complementary DNA microarray, we investigated the sequence in which cellular stress response-linked genes are expressed during acute heat stress, t...
